DSC00600We pulled the trigger last fall and purchased our first trailer, an Airstream 19′ Flying Cloud Bambi.  To some, it may seem small but for the 2 of us (and our dog), it feels right with all the space needed to function for a few weeks at a time.  The big reason we opted for this model is the lower weight and styling.  The weight allows us to pull it with either our Nissan Frontier or our MDX.  Both can support the 4500 lb max weight of the trailer.

The styling also sold us.  It has a retro look and soft leather.  Doors that close tight and plenty of light also helps.

We have been outfitting the trailer with added shelves in the closet, partitions, baskets, and cooking supplies.  But the truth comes in using it, over and over, and deciding what is important and what isn’t.  I hear a little book in the trailer where we can write down things that would help and things we don’t use helps to set up the trailer well.

Now on to our trips.  We wait…and wait….and wait… for the rains to let up.  But we are pouring through books and websites looking for great destinations.  We want to start with a couple of weekends under our carriage before trying a longer journey.  Luckily, there are a number of great places to go both by the sea and east of the mountains.
