GunStock Bud Vase Holders
He slid open the door to the old barn and made his way through the cobwebs to the back. The old man told him about a stack of Black Walnut blocks, hidden for 15 years and originally intended for gun stock material. He pulled a couple of pieces out into the daylight. They were dark, heavy, with interesting grain running through them. A little spit rubbed on it showed the rich colors of the Claro Walnut, a much sought-after species of Black Walnut grown in California He couldn’t wait to get to the shop and start creating…..
GunStock products are made from reclaimed gun stock material or Claro Walnut, a special species of Black Walnut treasured by woodworkers and gun manufactures. The wood is tightly grained, both light and dark and each is different from the next. Like a geode that doesn’t show its true crystalline interior until it is cut open, this wood is only discovered once it exits the planer and is sanded. That is when the true grain and color appears. Some are precisely cut and ‘veined’ with a contrasting hardwood at an added cost. As bud vase holders, the blocks are shaped into single or triple holders that will compliment table settings very nicely. Each is uniquely shaped and individually numbered. They are finished with natural oils and a hand rubbed wax. Stunning is what your guest will say and that is when you tell them the story of where they came.
